Saturday afternoon Serial show
Home/Change Series
This is art work from a saturday afternoon serial show and was shown while the film reels were changed to the next show and lasted about 5 to 7 minutes and a new one was shown each week,AKA Serial show. This type of art is on strathmore artist paper with Inks and washes of gray and black with cut out overlays and the backgrounds are on the same page as the toons, These were made before color was used on film, A all in one kind of thing. These pages were shown one at a time as the show was done by the voice artists and folie artist did the FX sounds in the background sort of like old radio shows. I will put the rough drawings next to each production piece so you can see the art better. This art was done in the late 20s and early 30s so this art is about 75 to 80 years old and as you can see some of the pages have some yellowing at the bottoms but for 80+ year old art they are in very good shape the inks and washes are brite and crisp. I'm told these are from Dick Tracy but I have a feeling they are from another show from that time, I'll post the real name as soon as I can find anything out about them. ENJOY!!!!
